Purpose and scope

Do you have products in your catalogue that you'd like to upsell or cross-sell? With our related product feature, you can link products together, which are then displayed in your Aphix WebShop under a configurable heading. We support two types of related products: linear related products and group related products

This feature guide describes the feature and provides a step by step guide on how to use it.

Fitting it all together

Imagine a scenario where you have a set of products that you'd like to recommend to a customer on the basis of their interest in another product. That's the exact scenario that our related products feature caters for. At its most basic, you construct groups of products that are linked by product code (SKU). Each group has a configurable name; examples include "Related products", "You may also like", or "Frequently bought together". You can configure products as to operate as one of two types: as a linear related product or group related product. A linear related product has an ordering associated with how it is displayed in relation to the other product(s), while a group related product has no such ordering. Each product only appears once in each group, regardless of its related product type or the number of groups the product is assigned to.

Linear related products

A linear related product is one which is associated with a set of one or more other products, but the other products are not related back to the original product or each other, as shown:

You can configure linear related products using the product import / export spreadsheet feature, which is found in Aphix Management Interface. Imports are immediately visible on your Aphix WebShop. The Related Products spreadsheet have a pre-defined format, which must be used for the information to be imported and applied correctly.

The spreadsheet for linear related products contain two columns named as Group Name (column 1) and Product Code (column 2). The Group Name contains the heading title that is displayed in Aphix WebShop. The Product Code column contains a list of related products, where the first product is the product which all products following are related to.

The table shows how the diagram is represented in the spreadsheet:

In Aphix WebShop, product_2, product_3 and product_4 are displayed under Related Products on product_1's product page while product_1 is not listed on any of the other linked product listing pages. Related products are displayed on product_1's page from left to right in alphabetical numerical order.

Group related products

A group related product is a product which is associated with a set of one or more other products, and all products are related to each other, as shown:

You can configure group related products using the product import / export spreadsheet feature, which is found in Aphix Management Interface. Imports are immediately visible on your Aphix WebShop. The Related Products spreadsheet have a pre-defined format, which must be used for the information to be imported and applied correctly.

The spreadsheet for group related products contains at least three columns named as Group ID (column A), Group Name (column B) and Product Codes (column C). The Group ID is automatically generated when you export related product data. You must include the Group ID if you are updating an existing group of group related products. The Group Name contains the heading title that is displayed in Aphix WebShop. There must be at least one product code (SKU) entered in the Product Codes column, although you can have multiple products grouped by entering the product codes (SKU) in the subsequent columns.

What does my customer see in Aphix WebShop?

Linear Related Product

The primary product in a linear related product relationship is listed first on the spreadsheet.

The other products are listed under the Group Name (which is "Related Products" in the example) in the order in which they appear in the spreadsheet.

Group Related Product

Each product has the same priority as all others in a Group Related Product relationship. Products are listed in alpha-numerical order under Related Products, as shown.
