Understanding related products

Purpose and scope

Do you have products in your catalogue that you'd like to upsell or cross-sell? With our related product feature, you can link products together, which are then displayed in your Aphix WebShop under a configurable heading. We support two types of related products: linear related products and group related products.

This feature guide describes the feature and provides a step by step guide on how to use it.

How it fits together

Imagine a scenario where you have a set of products that you'd like to recommend to a customer on the basis of their interest in another product. That's the exact scenario that our related products feature caters for. At its most basic, you construct groups of products that are linked by product code (SKU). Each group has a configurable name; examples include "Related products", "You may also like", or "Frequently bought together". You can configure products as to operate as one of two types: as a linear related product or group related product. A linear related product has an ordering associated with how it is displayed in relation to the other product(s), while a group related product has no such ordering. Each product only appears once in each group, regardless of its related product type or the number of groups the product is assigned to.

Linear related products

A linear related product is one which is associated with a set of one or more other products, but the other products are not related back to the original product or each other, as shown:

You can configure linear related products using the product import / export spreadsheet feature, which is found in Management Interface. Imports are immediately visible on your WebShop. The Related Products spreadsheet have a pre-defined format, which must be used for the information to be imported and applied correctly. Read How do I import and export related products? for more information.

Group related products

A group related product is a product which is associated with a set of one or more other products, and all products are related to each other, as shown:
